Staff Award for Excellence in Student Success: Donald Hall

The Staff Award for Excellence in Student Success recognizes a staff member who promotes a student-centered environment. Donald Hall was nominated in recognition of his contributions as Director of Financial Assistance. He is now the university’s Controller. The nominator referred to Hall as “one of the unsung heroes of Cameron University” and noted her amazement at the time and investment he makes for Cameron students. She said, “In every situation, Donald acted in the best interest of the students” and further cited his positive attitude and concern for the success of CU students. The nominator presented a specific example where Hall’s intervention resulted in a student being able to continue her academic progress. “Donald went above and beyond for this student…he stopped what he was doing to show the student that he valued her and wanted her to continue at Cameron."

Staff Award for Excellence in Service: Paula Merrifield

The Staff Award for Excellence in Service recognizes exemplary contributions in the area of campus or community service. This year’s honoree is Paula Merrifield, Career Services Coordinator, who was nominated by one of the many students she has assisted. The nominator referred to Merrifield as “an incredible asset to the students at Cameron,” citing that “she goes out of her way to find students placements at internships and jobs. Moreover, she makes personal connections with students, remembering their interest and goals. This allows students to help the economic prosperity of the community.”

Staff Award for Excellence in Campus Stewardship: Kai Williams

The Staff Award for Excellence in Campus Stewardship recognizes significant contributions to the campus community. Kai Williams, Circulation Specialist in the Cameron University Library, is the recipient. The nominator cited Williams’ initiative and persistence in seeking new opportunities to learn and also noted her “great contributions to successful operation of the library…Ms. Williams is cut out for customer service…She is always ready to help patrons with her knowledge.” Also noted was Williams’ willingness to take on additional responsibilities and assignments, her positive attitude, good relationship with colleagues and student workers, and her adaptability to changing work demands.”
