Cameron University Alumni Association welcomes 100 new lifetime members

As Cameron University’s Fiscal Year 2016 comes to a close on June 30, the Cameron University Alumni Association celebrates the addition of 100 new lifetime members during the year – an increase of 177 percent over the number of new members in the previous fiscal year.

“Choosing lifetime membership in the Cameron University Alumni Association is a direct expression of Cameron pride,” says Frank Myers, Associate Director of Alumni Relations. “By becoming lifetime members, Cameron graduates are demonstrating their support of the university.”

For many, lifetime membership is a direct reflection of appreciation for the high-quality education experienced at Cameron University.

"My wife, Patricia, and I became lifetime members of the Cameron University Alumni Association because a Cameron University education has been a great asset not only to us but our children and, in the near future, one of our grandchildren,” says Robert Phillips. Phillips earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Ecology with a minor in Psychology in 1998, and Patricia earned an Associate in Science in Interdisciplinary Studies in 2002. “Each of us was able to find employment in our career fields prior to or right after graduation. We believe this was due to a solid education that made us competitive in the job market. Additionally, we want to ensure others are aware of the benefits associated with a quality education. As lifetime members, we can make this happen and give back to the school and community."

Chris Williams, who earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2004, chose a CUAA lifetime membership for similar reasons.

“Last year when I was reviewing my upcoming goals, I began looking back where I had begun,” Williams says. “I realized I had learned much over my experience in the workforce. I then suddenly realized Cameron University has been the largest part of my success. CU was the foundation which allowed me to begin my career with the right tools and knowledge needed. Looking back at how much the university provided, I felt the need to ensure others receive the same benefits I had. Assisting Cameron University in continuing and improving its benefits is essential to the local economy and the development of future endeavors. Supporting CU is truly a blessing. I look forward to the advancements at Cameron University.”

Lifetime membership in the Cameron University Alumni Association is $250 for an individual or $400 for joint membership for married couples.

Membership benefits include national local merchant discounts of up to 30 percent, expanded check-out privileges at the CU Library, a 10 percent discount on imprinted gift items at the Cameron University Bookstore, Cameron Magazine, the opportunity to join the Aggie Rec Center at a low monthly rate, and opportunities to network with fellow CU alumni at events throughout the year.
