It’s “Game On!” for Cameron University Homecoming 2016

It’s “Game On” for Cameron University alumni, friends and supporters who will gather on the CU campus for the university’s Homecoming 2016 celebration.  On Friday, February 19, and Saturday, February 20, alumni and visitors can experience a variety of Cameron homecoming traditions, including the Homecoming Chuck Wagon Cook-off and Tailgate Party, men’s and women’s basketball games, the seventh annual Aggie Family Fun Run, presentation of the annual Cameron University Alumni Association Awards, the annual Athletics Hall of Fame banquet and a new event, Family Fun in the ARC. Aggie Homecoming activities kick off on Monday, February 15 with a variety of activities and events for CU students. Friday, February 19

10 a.m. – 5 p.m. |  Homecoming Hub (Welcome/Tours), McMahon Centennial Complex Lobby
A one-stop shop for campus tours, homecoming details and general information.

5:30 p.m. | Golf Cart Parade, Bentley Gardens
Experience homecoming excitement and enjoy a parade of golf cart floats designed by CU students as they make their way through campus and around Bentley Gardens. Don’t miss this colorful and vibrant procession!

5:30 p.m. | Athletics Hall of Fame Reception and Dinner, McCasland Ballroom, McMahon Centennial Complex

Celebrate the induction of the 2016 Class into the Cameron Athletics Hall of Fame, honoring some of Cameron’s greatest sports legends! Tickets are $30 per person and reserved in advance.

6 p.m. | Family Fun in the ARC, Aggie Rec Center

Bring the kids for a family fun time! Activities for the whole family include a chalking contest and a coloring contest.  Grab a basketball and try your skills on the court, inspire a healthy lifestyle by taking a fitness class, or enjoy some swim time in the pool. 

7:30 p.m. | CUAA Happy Hour, Swigg’s Still & Grill
Mix and mingle with Cameron alumni, former students, and community supporters. This come-and-go event will provide a great opportunity to reconnect, laugh, and reminisce about your Cameron days.

8:30 p.m. | Bonfire, South of Cameron Village
Cameron’s campus will come aglow as alumni, students, community members, faculty and staff unite for a bonfire and pep rally. Cheer on the Aggie basketball teams and 2016 Homecoming King and Queen candidates.

Saturday, February 21

8 a.m. – 3 p.m. | Homecoming Hub (Welcome/Tours), McMahon Centennial Complex Lobby
A one-stop shop for campus tours, homecoming details and general information.

9 a.m. | Aggie Family Fun Run, McMahon Centennial Complex Lobby (registration)
Participants will start the morning with a quick run, jog or even a stroll across the Aggie Mile. Pre-register at http://www.cameron.edu/homecoming/aggie-fun-run.

10:30 a.m. | Army ROTC Reunion, Burch Hall
Join the George D. Keathley Department of Military Science for a reunion of former members of the Comanche Battalion, Cameron’s award-winning Army ROTC unit.

Noon | Aggie Family & Friends Awards Lunch, McCasland Ballroom, McMahon Centennial Complex
The Aggie family comes together to present the Class of 1966 with their Golden Associate Medallions, followed by the presentation of the Cameron University Alumni Association Alumni Awards. Tickets are $15 per person. Advance registration is required.

2:30 p.m. | Chuck Wagon Cook-off and Tailgate Party, adjacent to Aggie Gym

Experience one of Cameron’s most popular homecoming traditions! Meet up with old friends, tailgate, vote for your favorite chuck wagon, enjoy live music by Dannie Carson and the Storm, and prepare to cheer Aggie athletics to victory. Enjoy free food while it lasts. 

4 p.m. and 6 p.m. | Aggie Basketball vs Texas A&M-Kingsville, Aggie Gym
The Athletics Hall of Fame inductees will be presented between games. Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned during halftime of the men’s game.

6 p.m. | Speech and Debate Reunion, McMahon Centennial Complex

All former members of Cameron’s award-winning speech and debate team are invited to re-live their forensics memories during this special reunion. Tickets are $50 and must be reserved in advance. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Cameron University Foundation.
