Cameron University School of Education and Behavioral Sciences recognizes student achievement

The Cameron University School of Education and Behavioral Sciences recently recognized student achievement. Undergraduate and graduate students in the school’s three academic departments – education, psychology, and sports and exercise science – were honored.

“It is very rewarding to recognize the accomplishments of our students, faculty, and staff!” says Dr. Lisa Huffman, Dean. “This year they have presented original research at national conferences, coordinated and participated in community-wide events, and provided countless hours of service to Southwest Oklahoma in the form of student teaching, practicum hours and internships. I am so very proud of each and every one in School of Education and Behavioral Sciences.”

The Department of Education presented five students with Major of the Year awards:

Elementary Education:  Wendy Brown, Temple

Early Childhood Education:  Katie Caughron, San Diego, Calif.

M.Ed. in Education:  Krista Hubbard, Lawton

M.S. in Educational Leadership:  Diana Landoll, Lawton

M.Ed. in Reading:  Kristen Todd, Lawton

In addition, Brya Hannabass, Indiahoma, was honored with the CU Council for Exceptional Children Member of the Year Award.

The Department of Psychology presented Major of the Year awards to:

M.S. in Behavioral Sciences:  Amanda Alexander, Lawton

Psychology:  Rebekah Pullicar, Lawton

Family and Child Studies:  Desiree Devine, Lawton

The Department of Sports and Exercise Science presented Major of the Year awards to:

Sports and Exercise Science: Robert Puccino, Lawton

Physical Education: Joshua Spurlin, Cache

Also recognized by the department were Tonya Ellis, Lawton, Excellence in Service Award; Jennifer Morrison, Lawton, Excellence in Academic Achievement; Jessica Limbocker, Lawton, Excellence in Leadership Award; Donald Hightower, Lawton, Above and Beyond Award; and Michael Caro, Elgin, True Grit Award.

Cameron faculty members were also honored during the ceremony.  Dr. Dana Hilbert and Kerri Stephens received the Teaching Award. Dr. Elisabeth Ponce-Garcia received the Scholarship Award. Dr. Shaun Calix and Dr. Holly Rice were presented with the Service Award. Above and Beyond Awards were presented to Dr. Courtney Glazer and staff members Tiffany Hamilton, Martiza Santana, Brandy Scott and Regina Thornton.
