Cameron University to hold auditions for musical theatre production, “The Pajama Game”

The Cameron University Departments of Theatre Arts and Music will continue its season of “Celebrating the Magic of the Classics!” with auditions for the musical comedy, “The Pajama Game.” Auditions will be held on Sunday, February 7, at 2 p.m.  and on Monday, February 8, at 7 p.m. in the University Theatre. Those auditioning should bring a memorized song from a Broadway musical along with the appropriate sheet music or an accompanying cd without vocals. Numerous roles are available.

“The Pajama Game” deals with labor troubles in a pajama factory, where workers’ demands for a seven-and-a-half cent raise are going unheeded. In the midst of this ordeal, love blossoms between Babe, the grievance committee head, and Sid, the new factory superintendent. It features popular songs such as “Hey There,” “Steam Heat,” and “Hernando’s Hide-a-way.”

This production is sponsored in part by the Richard T. Brittingham, M.D., Musical Theatre Endowed Lectureship.  It will be presented from April 21-24.
