Film by Cameron University professor selected for film festival

“My Girlfriend,” a short film by Cameron University’s Dejan Mraović, Assistant Professor of Art, has been selected for the 7th Annual Autumn Shorts Film Festival. The event, which features films no longer than 10 minutes in duration, is sponsored by Somerset Community College in Somerset, Ky., and takes place September 10-11. As an official selection, “My Girlfriend” will be eligible for special citations for individual achievement as well as “Audience Choice” and “Best of Fest” awards.

Mraović’s production is one of 22 selections from more than 200 entries. The festival is international in scope, with selections coming from France, Slovakia, Iran, Syria, Israel, Spain, Italy, Russia, United Kingdom and India, in addition to the United States.

“It is a great challenge to tell a complete story in a short amount of time, communicate with the audience and leave them with a message,” he says.

Not only is Mraović the director and producer, he wrote the screenplay and stars in the film. Cameramen Austin Warren and Colton Warren also edited the production, which was shot in Lawton and other areas of Comanche County.

“My Girlfriend” is Mraović’s fourth short movie.
