The Cameron University School of Liberal Arts will present “Social Justice: The Right to a Vigorous Defense in Contemporary American Culture,” featuring attorney Mack K. Martin. The presentation is set for Tuesday, December 1 at 5 p.m. in Ross Hall Room 111 and is open to the public at no charge.

It is a right we should treasure and not lose sight of as high profile cases inflame the will to try people in the media and the court of public opinion. We are lucky to have an alumnus with his extraordinary experience and success in defense and appellate practice.”

Martin will also hold an interactive session with students and faculty at 2 p.m. in Ross Hall Room 111. Community members are welcome to attend that session.

A prominent defense and appellate attorney, Martin earned his law degree from the Oklahoma City University School of Law. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Cameron in 1976. He has specialized in criminal defense with emphasis on grand jury, trial and appellate practice for more than 30 years. His firm, Martin Law Office, practices throughout the State of Oklahoma in state and federal court matters. The firm also practices in numerous other states, both in state and federal Courts.

Martin has served as vice president for the Oklahoma Bar Association and as president of the Oklahoma County Bar Association, the Oklahoma Criminal Defense Lawyer’s Association and the Oklahoma City Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. He is the recipient of the Oklahoma Defense Lawyer’s Association Lord Erskine Lifetime Achievement Award in Criminal Defense.

He is an active lecturer in continuing legal education seminars throughout Oklahoma. For over 20 years, he has been listed in the Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers, The Best Lawyers in America, and, since 2006, has been listed as a Super Lawyer in Oklahoma.
