Cameron University honors Carey Johnson family with the Mary Lou and W. Carey Johnson Auditorium

The auditorium in Cameron University’s Cynthia S. Ross Hall, home to the School of Business, has been named the Mary Lou and W. Carey Johnson Auditorium in recognition of long-time Cameron supporters, the late Carey Johnson and his wife Mary Lou. The honor serves to acknowledge a gift of property the Johnson family made to the university in 1989. Mary Lou Johnson and sons Carey Johnson, Jr. and Chris Johnson were on hand to represent the Johnson family during the official dedication.

His gift of property resulted in more than $220,000 to the Cameron University Foundation. For more than 25 years, the Johnson family has supported numerous fundraising efforts, including KCCU, the Centennial Changing Lives campaign, Cameron Athletics and the Cameron University Alumni Association.

In addition to its use as a classroom, the Mary Lou and W. Carey Johnson Auditorium has become a premium location for community speaking events and lectures, student organization meetings and other activities.
