The Lawton High School Symphonic Band will join the Cameron University Concert Band for a combined concert on Thursday, March 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the Cameron University Theatre. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students/military/senior citizens. Cameron students, faculty and staff are admitted free with CU I.D. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
“We’re excited to collaborate with the student musicians from Lawton High,” says Dr. Matthew Mireles, Assistant Professor of Music and conductor of the Concert Band. “The repertoire will showcase a variety of musical styles, including the rhythmic intensity of ‘Rush,’ Van der Roost’s four gipsy dances in ‘Puszta,’ a patriotic march dating to 1902 and more.”
The Cameron University Concert Band will perform John Philip Sousa’s “The Fairest of the Fair,” and “Rush” by Samuel Hazo. Following a brief intermission, the ensemble will be joined by the Lawton High School Symphonic Band for Bagley’s “National Emblem March,” “Algorhythms” by Gary Fagan, and “Puszta” by Jan Van der Roost.
