Cameron University advises veterans to enroll early for Spring 2015 semester to facilitate V.A. benefits

The Cameron University Office of Veteran Affairs encourages new and returning students to enroll early for the Spring 2015 semester. Early enrollment will begin Tuesday, October 21, for graduate students and seniors; Wednesday, October 22, for juniors; Thursday, October 23, for sophomores; and Friday, October 24, for freshmen. Enrollment will be open for all students beginning on Monday, October 27. Early enrollment for veterans is crucial due to the number of educational benefits offered under the G.I. Bill and the time required to process benefit applications.

“Because many veterans and active duty personnel can qualify for more than one educational benefit program, we encourage new students to apply for admission to Cameron University as soon as possible,” says Vicki Henson, CU Coordinator of Veteran Affairs. “Our office offers individualized, personal counseling to help students determine which chapter of VA educational benefit is most beneficial financially.”

Students are encouraged to meet with the professional staff in the Office of Veteran Affairs before applying for VA educational benefits, as choices made under the Post 9/11 benefit chapter are irrevocable and cannot be changed later. Staff members can assist students with understanding the differences between various chapters of benefits.

Cameron’s Office of Veteran Affairs is located in North Shepler 332. For more information, call 580-581-2301 or go to http://www.cameron.edu/veteran_affairs.
