Cameron University has received a gift of $25,000 from the Stripes College Scholarship Fund. The generous donation has been used to provide scholarships of $1,000 each to 25 Cameron University students.
“We are indeed grateful to the Stripes College Scholarship Fund for its support of Cameron students,” says Cameron President John McArthur. “Cameron is committed to providing as much financial assistance as possible so that our students can concentrate on their studies and complete their degree requirements. We share the Stripes® vision of empowering tomorrow’s leaders through access to quality education.”
“We are proud of our passionate team members and the energy they put into the Stripes College Scholarship Fund campaign,” says Eduardo Pereda, Stripes® Convenience Stores Vice President of Marketing. “We will make a difference in the lives of our youth by investing in them today through college scholarships. Again, we are overwhelmed by the generosity of our customers for contributing to further the education of so many students at Cameron University.”
Through the Stripes College Scholarship Fund, Stripes® is investing in tomorrow’s leaders. The company hopes to inspire students to actively and passionately build careers and become productive community contributors.
“Stripes scholarships were awarded to students majoring in 13 of Cameron’s academic programs, enabling those students to get one step closer to earning a degree,” says McArthur. “The diverse range of academic programs these students are pursuing will no doubt have a positive community impact once these students earn their degrees and commence their respective careers.”
The degree programs being pursued by the Cameron Stripes College Scholarship Fund recipients include accounting, art, biology, business administration, chemistry, communication, early childhood education, elementary education, interdisciplinary studies, international languages, multimedia design, psychology and sociology.
Cameron is one of 20 universities in Oklahoma, New Mexico and Texas that participates in the Stripes College Scholarship Fund. Scholarship recipients must be full-time students with a minimum 2.5 grade point average and a resident of a Stripes® market area county for at least one year.
