Cameron University’s Bill W. Burgess, Jr. Business Research Center (BBRC) will host an additional “Meet the Candidates: Election 2014” business forum presenting candidates for office in the upcoming November election. The forum will take place on Tuesday, October 7 at 9 a.m. in the CETES Conference Center and is open to the public at no cost.
“It is critical for voters to have an understanding of the candidates for elected offices before they go to the polls this November,” says Dr. Syed Ahmed, Director, BBRC. “By providing a forum for candidates to discuss their views, we hope to motivate community members to take a proactive role in the election by first learning about the various candidates and then by voting in the general election on November 4.”
Candidates for the following state and national offices have been invited to participate: U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives (4th District), Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Commissioner of Labor, State Senate (District 32), and State House of Representatives (Districts 62, 63 and 65). Candidates who have confirmed to participate in the forum are: Sen. Randy Bass, Jeff Coody, Cathy Cummings, John Dunaway, Joan Farr, Toni Hasenbeck, Connie Johnson, John Michael Montgomery, Scooter Park, Juan Rodriguez, Matt Silverstein, Bert Smith and Mike Workman. Joe Dorman is sending a campaign representative.
