Cameron University students win awards at state broadcast competition

Cameron University broadcast students won four awards in the 24th annual student competition sponsored by the Oklahoma Broadcast Education Association (OBEA).  Noah Copeland, Indiahoma; Kim Garner, Lawton; and Sandra O’Brien, Lawton, were honored for their entries.  They will receive their awards on March 27 during a ceremony sponsored by the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters (OAB).

“The annual OBEA student competition has become quite intense,” says Steve Adams, Assistant Professor, Department of Communication. “Our students just missed out in several categories; we had eight entries finish fourth in judging.  Our students have done a lot of great work in the past year.  The broadcast faculty is extremely happy with their efforts.”

Copeland placed second in the radio commercial category; Garner placed second in television talent; and O’Brien placed third in two categories, radio promo and radio news story.

Their winning submissions were among 232 entries from 13 colleges and universities around the state.
