The Cameron University Department of Art will kick off the Fall 2014 semester with an exhibition featuring the works of faculty members Monika Linehan and Katherine Liontas-Warren. The show, which will be on display in the gallery of the Art Building, will open on Friday, August 8 with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibit will run through August 16.
The exhibit will feature works in a variety of media. Liontas-Warren will display oil paintings, lithographs, drawings and pastel works. Linehan will display paintings and monotypes.
Linehan graduated with honors from Cameron in 1980, earning a Bachelor of Art in Studio Art. She then earned a Master of Fine Arts with a concentration in Painting and Drawing from Southern Methodist University. She joined the Cameron faculty in 2004 and teaches Advanced Drawing, Figure Drawing, Beginning Painting and Advanced Painting. Linehan was honored with the Harold and Elizabeth Hackler Teaching Excellence Award in 2013.
Liontas-Warren joined the Cameron faculty in 1984. She teaches drawing, watercolor and printmaking. She has been honored with the Bhattacharya Research Excellence Award and has been inducted into the Cameron University Alumni Association’s Faculty Hall of Fame. She has been named Artist of the Year by the Paseo Art Association in Oklahoma City and Educator of the Year by the Lawton Arts and Humanities Council. Her work has been exhibited in more than 350 national solo, invitational and juried competitive exhibitions throughout the United States and abroad.
