Cameron University invites alumni and friends to CU ROCKS - Homecoming 2014

Cameron University alumni, friends and supporters will discover that “CU ROCKS” during a slate of fun-filled events taking place for HomecomiGraphic of Homecoming logong 2014. On Friday, February 28, and Saturday, March 1, alumni and visitors can experience a variety of Cameron homecoming traditions, including the Homecoming Chuckwagon Cook-off and Tailgate Party, men’s and women’s basketball games and other sporting events, the fifth annual Aggie Family Fun Run/Walk, presentation of the annual Cameron University Alumni Association Awards and the annual Athletics Hall of Fame banquet. Homecoming activities kick off on Monday, February 24 with a variety of activities and events for CU students. Friday, February 28

10 a.m. – 5 p.m. |  Homecoming Hub (Welcome/Tours), McMahon Centennial Complex Lobby
New this year, a one-stop shop for campus tours, homecoming details and general information.

1 p.m. | Softball doubleheader vs. Eastern New Mexico, McMahon Field

2 p.m. | Academic Department Open Houses – Agriculture and History & Government
New this year, an opportunity to meet with current faculty and staff. Participating academic departments are Agriculture (Second Floor, South Shepler) and History and Government (Sixth Floor, South Shepler).

2 p.m. | Baseball vs. Angelo State, McCord Field

2 p.m. | Men’s Tennis Colorado State-Pueblo, Streich-Henry Tennis Complex

4 p.m. | Academic Department Open House – Education, CETES Conference Center

Join faculty members and students from the Department of Education for an open house and hear from CU alumna Dana Moore, Lawton Public Schools Teacher of the Year and Oklahoma Teacher of the Year finalist.

5:30 p.m. | Golf Cart Parade, Bentley Gardens
Experience homecoming excitement and enjoy a parade of golf cart floats design by CU students as they make their way through campus and around Bentley Gardens.

5:30 p.m. | Athletics Hall of Fame Reception and Dinner, McCasland Ballroom, McMahon Centennial Complex

Celebrate the induction of the 2014 Class into the Cameron Athletics Hall of Fame, honoring some of Cameron’s greatest sports legends! Tickets are $30 per person and must be purchased in advance from the Office of Alumni Relations by calling 581-2988.

6:30 p.m. | Bonfire Social, South of Cameron Village
Cameron’s campus will come aglow as alumni, students, community members, faculty and staff unite for a bonfire.

8 p.m. | Aggie G.OL.D. Happy Hour, Red Dirt Bar & Grill, 6425 NW Cache Rd.
Join other Graduates of the Last Decade (2004-2014) for happy hour, a great time to reconnect with classmates and former students.

9 a.m. | Aggie Family Fun Run, McMahon Centennial Complex Lobby (registration)
Participants will start the morning with a quick run, jog or even a stroll across the Aggie Mile. Pre-register at http://www.cameron.edu/homecoming/aggie-fun-run.

9 a.m. | Men’s Tennis vs. Ouachita Baptist, Streich-Henry Tennis Complex

10:30 a.m. | Army ROTC Reunion, Burch Hall
Join the George D. Keathley Department of Military Science for a reunion of former members of the Comanche Battalion, Cameron’s award-winning Army ROTC unit.

11 a.m. | Aggie Family Coffee, McMahon Centennial Complex Lobby
The Class of 1964, CUAA Award Winners, alumni and community members will gather for the Aggie Family Coffee, a great time to reconnect and remember CU memories.

Noon | Aggie Family & Friends Awards Lunch, McCasland Ballroom, McMahon Centennial Complex
The Aggie family comes together to present the Class of 1964 with their Golden Associate Medallions, followed by the presentation of the Cameron University Alumni Association Alumni Awards. Tickets are $15 per person and must be purchased in advance by calling the Office of Alumni Relations at 581-2988.

Noon | Baseball doubleheader vs. Angelo State, McCord Field

Noon | Softball vs. Eastern New Mexico, McMahon Field

2 p.m. | Chuckwagon Cook-off and Tailgate Party, adjacent to Aggie Gym

Experience one of Cameron’s most popular homecoming traditions! Meet up with old friends, tailgate, vote for your favorite chuckwagon, and prepare to cheer Aggie athletics to victory. Enjoy free food while it lasts. 

2 p.m.| Men’s Tennis vs. East Central, Streich-Henry Tennis Complex 
 
4 p.m. and 6 p.m. | Aggie Basketball vs. Midwestern State, Aggie Gym
The Athletics Hall of Fame inductees will be presented during halftime of the women’s game. CUAA Award winners will be recognized between games, and homecoming King and Queen will be crowned during halftime of the men’s game.
