The Cameron University Department of Music and Southwest Oklahoma Opera Guild have collaborated to bring the operatic version of Mozart’s “The Three Little Pigs” to life. Starring Cameron vocal music students Holly Evans, Alyson Hayes, Mark Deyesso, and Robert Perou, the production is directed by Dr. Earl Logan, professor of music. Yiuka Chan-Spannagel, adjunct instructor of music, will provide piano accompaniment. A free performance will be presented on Sunday, March 11 at 3 p.m. in the McCutcheon Recital Hall. Seating is limited to the first 70 patrons. This production of “The Three Little Pigs” is most appropriate for children K-5th grade.
An operatic version of the story of “The Three Little Pigs” based on scenes from operas by Mozart, this production is the story of brother pigs Don Giovanni (played by Perou) and Cherubino (played by Hayes), who set off to make homes of sticks and straw. Their sister, Despina (played by Evans), goes to the library to read about “huff-proof, puff-proof" home construction. After Wolfgang Bigbad (played by Deyesso) blows down the boys’ flimsy homes, they run to their sister’s sturdy new brick house, ready to admit that going to the library and reading books is a pretty smart thing to do after all.
