Cameron University Department of Physical Sciences presents student awards

Cameron University’s Department of Physical Sciences honored students during its annual awards ceremony recently.

The Kaiser Pre-Medical Studies Scholarship was awarded to Wendy Finch and Heath Kuykendall, both of Marlow.

Receiving departmental scholarships were Emvia Calixte, Soufriere, St. Lucia; Chad Carden, Charles Leslie, Ornella Nelson, all of Lawton; Jean-Marie Charles, Roseau, Dominica; Kabita Khadka and Nijjwal Shrestha, Kathmandu, Nepal; Mausam Kusma and Sweta Shrestha, Bhaktapur, Nepal; Jarred Kelsey and Jessica Landoll, Elgin; and Nirjwal Wasti, Morang, Nepal.

Sweta Shrestha also received the Wichita Falls/Duncan Section/American Chemical Society Senior Award.

William Handt of Lawton was recognized for having the highest grade on the American Chemical Society standardized exam, which covers material from both General Chemistry I and General Chemistry II.

Society of Physics Students Awards were presented to Matthew Boyles, Lawton; Erin France, Shawnee; Mark Scott, Detroit, Mich.; Amit Sharma, Banke, Nepal; and Wasti. Those students were also inducted into Sigma Pi Sigma, the national physics honor society.
