Two works of art by Cameron University Assistant Professor of Art Andrew Baker have been selected for the 2011 Festival International De Video Danse De Bourgogne. His photographic works “Gist” and “Aura” depict Native American dancers and were selected from more than 200 submissions from 25 different countries. They will be on display at cultural centers and galleries across France as part of the international exhibition from March 28 through April 12.
“I used a slow shutter speed and double exposures to explore the nuances of movement that these dances express,” Baker says. “The work displays an array of color and a motif of patterns from the dancer’s garments, flooding the compositions with energy.”
The 2011 Festival International De Video Danse De Bourgogne features video dance and other interdisciplinary works that investigate the use of technology, image and choreography.
