Works of art by Cameron University faculty members Monika Linehan and Katherine Liontas-Warren have been selected for The 2nd Biennial Juried Texas Oklahoma Art Prize at the Wichita Falls Museum of Art at Midwestern State University. The works were chosen for exhibition by juror Janis Goodman, Professor of Fine Art, Corcoran College of Art and Design, Washington D.C. and arts reviewer for PBS affiliate WETA. The exhibit will open on April 9 and run through May 29th.
Linehan's entry, "You Wake Up In The Night," is oil on canvas. Liontas-Warren's entry, "The Lost Habitat," is a pastel drawing.
Liontas-Warren won the Best of Oklahoma prize at the inaugural Texas Oklahoma juried show in 2008 with a colored pencil drawing, "The Seated Nest." She joined Cameron faculty in 1984. To date, she has exhibited in 18 solo shows and 203 national and regional juried competitive competitions throughout the United States and Europe, receiving numerous purchase awards and juried awards.
Linehan joined the Cameron faculty in 2004. While her first love is oil painting, she also enjoys working in a variety of drawing mediums. Her work also includes miniature sculptures created out of precious metals. Narrative themes exploring human relationships and psychological states are the common thread that runs through all her artwork.
