Cameron University student Tristi Chan won the 2009 Oklahoma Music Teachers Association Collegiate Division Piano Competition, which took place last Saturday in Stillwater. Chan, a sophomore, faced competition from contestants representing universities across the state. She will perform at the Winner's Recital and receive a monetary prize at the Oklahoma Music Teachers Association State Conference in June 2010.
A native of Hong Kong, Chan is pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance and is a piano student of Dr. Hyunsoon Whang, professor of music and Louise D. McMahon Endowed Chair in Music. She is the recipient of a McMahon Scholarship, Aldine Cash Music Scholarship, William Fletcher Memorial Piano Award, and a member of Mu Phi Epsilon, the international music honor society.
