Scholarship opportunities for Cameron University students are still available, according the CU's Office of Financial Assistance. A number of scholarships are still available for the 2009-2010 school year, although deadlines are approaching. Students are encouraged to apply for these and other scholarship opportunities.
The Wyatt F. & Mattie M. Jeltz Scholarship Foundation is accepting applications for scholarships that will be awarded to minority students for the Spring 2010 semester. To be eligible for the award, a student must be enrolled full-time at an Oklahoma college or university, earned at least 30 credit hours and have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.8. The Gen and Kelly Tanabe Scholarship is a merit-based program that helps students fulfill their dreams of a higher education. The scholarship is named for Gen and Kelly Tanabe, best-selling authors on education, whose generous donations fund the program. Applicants be legal U.S. residents and must submit a 250 word essay. The first place award is a $1,000 scholarship. The award can be used for tuition, room and board, required fees or any educational expense. Application deadline is December 31, 2009. The Jaycee Foundation of Oklahoma is accepting applications for the United States JCI Senate Foundation Scholarship Program, which awards $1,000 grants to high school seniors who are U.S. citizens and who plan to continue their education at accredited post-secondary colleges, universities or vocational schools. Applicants must be Oklahoma residents. The application includes a demonstration of financial need. Applicants must also provide a personal statement of 100 to 300 words, indicating the chosen field of college study and the reasons for this choice. Application deadline is December 31, 2009. In addition to the scholarships listed above, CU students are encouraged to apply for scholarships that are specific to Cameron University. Many of the scholarships are renewable and all classifications are encouraged to apply. The application deadline is February 1, 2010.
