Cameron University professor elected representative to OSRHE Faculty Advisory Council

Mary Penick, Cameron University Assistant Professor of Computing and Technology, has been elected as a representative to the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education's Faculty Advisory Council. She replaces CU's Dr. Jim Lambert, Chair of the CU Department of Music, who will complete his second two-year term on the council in December. Penick's term will start on December 1, 2008 and will run through December 2010. Like Lambert, Penick will serve as one of three representatives for the state's regional universities.

OSRHE's Faculty Advisory Council communicates to the Chancellor and the State Regents the views and interests of all Oklahoma college and university faculty on issues relating to the constitutional and statutory responsibilities of the State Regents. In representing faculty, the FAC attempts to accurately represent the positions of faculty and develop the best proposals and recommendations to the State Regents. The FAC consists of 14 members elected by the State Faculty Assembly at its fall annual meeting and appointed by the Chancellor.

A member of the FAC must be a faculty member at a college or university within the state of Oklahoma and should, at the time of election, be the president or immediate past president/chairman of his/her institution's faculty organization or the university's presidents designee. Penick currently serves as chair of the CU Faculty Senate.
