Academic Planning and Career Counseling
In addition to the opportunity to develop the highest-level academic and research skills needed for successful admission into a doctoral program, program staff provide academic advisement to help build a strong undergraduate foundation. Working with staff members, scholars also work to improve academic weaknesses and develop better study skills.
Services include assistance with personal academic planning, career counseling, and financial assistance planning. The McNair Scholars Program provides a resource library of graduation school information on scholarships and fellowships.
The program staff provides moral support, advice, and guidance to the scholars and the program alumni. Students are also referred to other campus and community support agencies depending on individual need.
