History
The Magic Lantern Film Society is in its twenty-sixth season at Cameron University. The Magic Lantern Film Society was started in the Spring of 1982 by Cameron History Professor Mark Stegmaier, and Cameron English/Foreign Language Professor Marilyn Beaney. The first showing featured two 16 mm films.
The Magic Lantern Film Society was named after a theater called the Magic Lantern that was located in Santa Barbara, California. The magic lantern was also a name given to early projection equipment.
