Introducing Cameron University's New Automated Library Management System
Cameron Library has "migrated" its online catalog and its acquisitions,
cataloging, and circulation functions to a new automated system. As a
result, patrons can now search the
library's holdings with greater efficiency and effectiveness, view their own
circulation accounts, renew materials online, and request items on loan to
others.
Patrons can make book
purchase recommendations and view information about serial issue expected
and received dates. During the next few months, librarians will confirgure
the system to enable simultaneous searching of multiple databases and
digitization of materials related to Cameron's history.
Librarians are in the process of creating printed online catalog use
directions and classroom instruction sessions designed to enable students and
faculty members to best use the system.
Revised Classroom Instruction Sessions
Professors who schedule library instruction sessions for classes will enable students to recieve instruction in use of the new online catalog: Cameron University Scholarly Information Source.

Overdue Material E-mail Notification
The new system's
circulation module employs email to notify faculty and staff members about
overdue materials. Faculty and staff members who observe due dates will
avoid suspension of library privileges and lost item billing.
The librarians encourage faculty and staff members to view their circulation accounts
periodically and to use the online renewal feature to prevent materials still in
use from becoming overdue.
Online Renewal
To renew materials online prior to their due dates, faculty and staff members may view their circulation accounts and follow self-book-renewal directions. From the Cameron University Scholarly Information Source home page, choose the option entitled "My circulation account," and complete the requested identification information.
Then view a list of items on loan, and follow self-loan-renewal directions. (Those lacking myCU passwords may contact a circulation assistant to receive library-specific passwords).
Electronic Article Delivery
Upon request, interlibrary loan can deliver electronically many interlibrary loan articles to faculty and staff members.
To register for this service, contact Belinda at 581-2382.
Request an Item on Loan
To request a Cameron University Library book or recording that is on loan to another patron, view the item's catalog record and select the Request Selected Item option. Library staff members will notify the requestor when the item becomes available.
Submit a Book Purchase Request Online
Cameron University Library's home page links to a book purchase request form that enables library patrons to submit suggestions for additions to the collection. Faculty members who wish to request items be purchased in support of specific Cameron programs should identify themselves by name and department when submitting requests.
