Professor Presents History of Oklahoma Murals

Professor of History Dr. Sally Soelle provided a discussion and slide presentation focused on the murals which artists created in Oklahoma during the 1930’s.  Artists painted the murals in post offices, courthouses, and university buildings as part of Roosevelt’s New Deal employment program designed to combat unemployment. As depictions of Native American life and pastoral scenes, these murals represent part of American cultural identity. Oklahoma Humanities Council grant funding made possible the October 3, 2007 presentation.
