Money in the Library

Money in the Library!

Cameron University freshmen had the opportunity to win money in the library during the fall 2008 semester. The library, part of a seven school consortium in Oklahoma, offered students the chance to win three Cameron Bookstore $100.00 gift certificates for simply taking a test.  The test, Standardized Assessment of Information Literacy Skills (SAILS), was designed to gauge students’ proficiency in eight areas: developing a research strategy, selecting finding tools, searching, using finding tools features, retrieving sources, evaluating sources, documenting sources, and understanding legal and ethical issues.  The test information for the fifty participating freshmen was sent to Kent State University for scoring and collation.  Data will be utilized to create an information literacy instructional program for future Cameron students.
