Using The Library Computer Lab

The library houses a full-service computer lab available to faculty, current Cameron students, staff, and alumni.  The computer stations in the lab have full access to the Library's catalog, as well as on campus access to full-text and citation databases. 

 

Signing In

Before using the computers in the lab, you will need to sign in at the Computer Lab Assistance desk.  Once you’ve signed in, you may take a computer card and use the workstation indicated on the card. 

Logging into a workstation

You will be required to log in to Windows before you begin using the computer.  Your user name consists of the first initial of your first name, the first initial of your last name and the last six digits of your Student ID Number.  Your password consists of the first initial of your first name, the first initial of your last name, and the last five digits of your Social Security number.  Once you have entered your username and password, click OK. 

Software on the Library Computers

The workstations in the Library Computer Lab have software available for use by students, staff and alumni for a variety of purposes.  Microsoft Office can be used for writing papers with Microsoft Word, creating spreadsheets with Microsoft Excel, creating and maintaining databases with Microsoft Access, and developing digital slideshow presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint. 

Intenet Access

Internet use, and general computer use, are subject to the Cameron University ITS Computer Use Policy.  Internet access is available by using either Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape.  Both have the Library web site as the home page. 

Besides using these programs for general internet use for academic purposes, you are also able to access MyCU, Blackboard, and Cameron University Student E-mail

Additionally, you may search the Library�s catalog using the Cameron University Scholarly Information Source (C.U.S.I.S.) and search for information in the On Campus Citation and Full Text Databases

Printing from the Library Computer Lab

When printing from the Lab, your print job will automatically be generated by the Canon Lab Printer/Copier.  Once you click on print, all you need to do is go and retrieve your print job from the Canon.  Printing from the Library Computer Lab is free of charge. 

Logging Off

When you have finished using the computer, please log off by selecting the Log off option from the START menu.  For your protection, log off is required at each session, as other patrons may use the computer after you.

Computer Lab assistance is available from the Library Computer Specialist on Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
