Computer has frozen and/or locked up
A common issue that may come up from time to time is that a computer may become "frozen" or "locked up". This means that the computer has, due to memory usage or a software conflict, stopped working. No matter what you type or where you click, the computer does not respond.
Sometimes, it is possible to isolate the software that is experiencing the problem and close it down. To do so, press CTRL, ALT, and DEL on the keyboard at the same time. A new window should appear. Click on Task Manager.
The Task Manager window will open, and will show you which programs, if any, are not responding. Click on the one(s) listed as not responding, and then click on End Task. After this, you may be prompted to click on another End Task button.
If this procedure is successful, then the computer should "unfreeze" and you may be able to continue working.
However if it is unsuccessful, you may need to restart the computer before continuing.
