Web page is not loading
There are many reasons why a web page may not load for you:
- Check that the URL address in the location/address bar is spelled correctly. Mistyping an address is quite common.
- Ensure that you have used the correct domain extension. For example, .com, .net, .org, etc.
- The web browser you are using stopped loading the page due to an error. Try clicking on the Refresh/Reload button.
- The web page you are currently trying to access is experiencing heavy traffic, i.e. a large amount of users/visitors accessing and/or using the site. This is very common with extremely popular websites such as Yahoo.com or MySpace.com. If this is the case, there is not much that can be done except to check back later to see if the web page is back up and/or if you are able to access it.
- Sometimes, the link you clicked on may actually be a link to a "dead page" - or a web page that is no longer available and has either been removed, migrated, or deleted. If this is the case, you will be given a "404 Error" message, stating that the web page is not available at the location you tried to access it. If the web page has simply been moved, you could try searching for it at Google.com.
- The computer you are using could be undergoing connectivity problems. If this is the case, the problem can usually be resolved by restarting the computer.
- The server that the web page is located on may be currently unavailable or down. If this is the case, there is not much that can be done except to check back later to see if the web page is back up.
- The Library Computer Lab may be experiencing some networking issues. If this is the case, the problem is usually resolved by the I.T.S. department as soon as it possibly can be done.
