Mission Statement and Collection Development Policy
Mission Statement Cameron University Library Archives exists to preserve and make available non-current, official University and historical records and non-official records that document campus life and activities since the school's inception.
Collection Development Policy
The Cameron University Librarian responsible for the Library's University Archives co-ordinates the collection, organization, preservation, and accessibility of both official and non-official documents relevant to understanding of Cameron University's history and culture. Official documents include those records mandated by the Oklahoma Statutes in Consolidated General Records Disposition Schedule for State Universities and Colleges. Non-official documents include additional materials that document faculty, student, and campus life. Designated library officials retain or dispose of materials regulated by Consolidated General Records Disposition Schedule for State Universities according to those regulations. Designated library officials retain or dispose of items not regulated by Consolidated General Records Disposition Schedule upon taking into consideration library-established guidelines described elsewhere in this document.
Official documents mandated for preservation according to Oklahoma State Statute in Consolidated General Records Disposition Schedule for State Universities and Colleges and thus appropriate for preservation in Cameron University Library Archives include the following:
Administration
- Administrative files which include correspondence, memoranda and announcements; University policies and procedures; litigation and legal opinions, trusts, gifts; and conferences on and off campus
- Governing Board minutes, reports
- University policies and procedures manual
- Committee and council file reports generated for and by councils, organizations, associations and committees
- Councils/committees minutes
- Litigation file
- Legal opinions file
- Grants file
- Transcripts of all publications and speeches of Governing Board, President, Vice Presidents, other administrators
- Official events calendars
- Capital improvement projects
- Organizational charts
Curriculum - Curriculum master course file
- Scholastic requirements
- Accreditation file
- Catalogs
- Non-credit course file
Finance and Accounting Videotape Collection - Videotape programs produced by the college for instructional, promotional or college-related matters
Blueprints, Plans, and Drawings File - Blueprints, plans and drawings of University buildings
Personnel - Policies and procedures for recruitment of presidents, deans, faculty, and administrative personnel
- Records concerning college awards and honors received by faculty and staff members
- Faculty and staff handbook
Public Relations - Master copy of University news releases
- Photographs file Photographs of University and University-related matters, individuals, or locations
- History file Records concerning University history
- Copies of news releases and clippings, cassette recordings of broadcast announcements, and any other public relations materials
Student Personnel - Students organizations to include constitution, bylaws, minutes, and other records of any student organization
- Student surveys reports summarizing results and conclusions of surveys
- Student handbooks
- Yearbook (Wichita)
- Newspaper (Collegian)
- Records concerned with bestowing graduation honors, honor rolls, and awards
- File containing information relevant to the requirements for admissions to a program--nursing, for example, --where the program may have requirements separate and beyond those of the University
Legal Counsel - Court orders issued by judges requiring that certain actions be undertaken by the institution
