Wireless Availability, Usage, and Security

802.11a – 5 Ghz (54 Mbps), 802.11b – 2.4 GHz (11 Mbps), and 802.11g – 2.4 GHz (54 Mbps) wireless access will be available in hotspots. 802.11a will be confined to the areas nearest to the access points. 802.11b/g will be available everywhere else.

The Cameron University Wireless Network is behind firewall(s) or wireless gateway(s) that are configured in such a way as to provide Internet access only. Access to Cameron computers, desktops, servers, etc. WILL be blocked. Official Cameron servers will still be available as they are on the Internet already. Guests will only have web (http) and email access.

All wireless IP addresses given to clients will be private IP addresses. The IP addresses will be assigned by the firewall and will be routed to the public Internet via a firewall or wireless gateway utilizing NAT (Network Address Translation).
