Following the prefix is a 4-digit number assigned to a course. The first of the 4-digits will be:
0 - refers to developmental courses
1 - refers to freshman-level courses
2 - refers to sophomore-level courses
3 - refers to junior-level courses
4 - refers to senior-level courses
5 - refers to graduate-level courses
The two middle digits identify the course within the department. The last digit indicates the credit hours awarded for the course.
The example, ACCT 2013, is a sophomore-level accounting course carrying three semester hours of credit.
