Platform Party Assembly

The Processional

Where and When to AssemblePlatform party personnel will assemble along the south wall of the Theatre Scene Shop no later than 4:50 p.m. <<BACK TO TOP>>
The ProcessionalUpon the President's approval, the Processional will begin at 5:00 p.m. President Ross will conduct members of the platform party to the University Theatre stage. Graduate faculty, who assemble in the Studio Theatre, will follow. Graduate students being honored will process from the Studio Theatre through the entrances in the back of the auditorium. Please accept the direction of Commencement Assistants during the processional. The ceremony coordinators will assemble the platform party and give further instructions upon arrival to the Platform Party assembly area. <<BACK TO TOP>>
Presentation of HoodsThe Graduate Advisor for each degree will lead the hood recipients across the platform. The Graduate Advisors will first present a card identifying the academic major to the reader at the microphone, and then conduct the candidates across the platform to receive their hoods. The deans will read the name cards. Ms. Linda Phillips will assist the readers. Platform party members who are hood recipients should excuse themselves and join the presentation line when they see their academic areas approach the platform. These graduation candidates should then process through the receiving line and rejoin the platform party. Please accept the direction of the Ceremony Assistants as they help with this process. <<BACK TO TOP>>
The RecessionalAt the conclusion of the ceremony, the President will dismiss participants. As the recessional music is played, the platform party and graduate faculty will depart the stage and proceed to the Theatre Lobby. The graduate coordinators and hood recipients will then follow to the lobby. All are then free to attend the Commencement Ceremony. <<BACK TO TOP>>
