General Information for the Hooding Ceremony

Congratulations!Congratulations on completing the requirements for the Masters degree program at Cameron University! We have planned a very memorable Hooding Ceremony to honor and celebrate this important milestone in your life.Members of the Cameron faculty and staff look forward to joining you and wishing you well on this significant occasion. This website will provide information regarding the time and location of your assembly, arrangements for your guests, and parking information. Assembly of Hood RecipientsThe ceremony will begin at 5:00 p.m., Friday, May 9, 2008, in the Studio Theatre. All those involved in the ceremony should assemble no later than 4:45 p.m.All hood recipients should stop by the name card table in the east end of the University Theatre lobby to pick up name cards, which will be used during the ceremony. Hood recipients will present the card to the designated reader as they cross the stage during the ceremony. Hood recipients will assemble by academic discipline in the Studio Theatre, adjacent to the main theatre lobby an area adjacent to the stage. Ceremony Assistants will be available in the main lobby to assist with directions and questions. If you are physically challenged and will need assistance participating in the Processional, or crossing the stage to be hooded, please contact Ms. Laquita Shaw at 580.581.2987 prior to the day of the Hooding Ceremony. Additional or special instructions are available for the following groups: Regalia (Caps and Gowns)Commencement regalia is available at the campus bookstore located in the Davis Student Union during regular operating hours until 4:30 PM, Friday, May 4. The master's degree regalia package (cap, gown, tassel, and hood) costs $44.80 each, tax not included. Additional tassels are $3.50 each, tax not included. If you plan to purchase regalia but live outside Lawton, you may call the bookstore at 580.581.2375 to make postal arrangements. Overnight shipping is available, but must be arranged before 3:00 PM, Wednesday, May 2. ParkingPlenty of parking is available on campus. The closest parking lots to the University Theatre are adjacent to the following buildings: Music Building, Theatre Building, Art/Student Government Buildings, Student Union/Library Buildings, Howell Hall. GuestsPlease advise your guests to allow sufficient time to walk from parking areas and be seated no later than 4:45 p.m. Ceremony Assistants in the University Theatre Lobby are available to answer questions. Arrangements for the Physically ChallengedPlenty of clearly marked parking for the physically challenged is available in all the university parking lots. The University Theatre is equipped with ramps and Ceremony Assistants serving as doormen to assist those who are physically challenged. PhotographyYou will no doubt wish to capture this important occasion in photographs and on video. We encourage you and an your guests to do so. Please advise your family and friends that during the ceremony, only Hooding Ceremony participants are permitted near the stage. Therefore, we ask that photographs be taken from your seat. After the ceremony, photographs may be taken anywhere. A commercial photographer from Candid Color Photography will photograph each graduate as he/she is hooded. The company will contact you with the option to purchase copies of your photograph. However, there is no obligation to do so. All transactions must be between the photographer and individual candidates. Cameron University is not involved in the billing or collecting of moneys for this service.
