Senior Year Checklist

Summer

☐ Consider taking a summer or intersession class to stay ahead!
☐ Make sure you get a new parking permit from OneStop.
☐ Check on your financial aid.

August

☐ Check out all of the awesome Welcome Week activities.
☐ Always attend your classes!
☐ In the first week of the semester, gather all your syllabi and enter dates for all papers, projects, tests and finals in a weekly planning calendar. Track social activities and co-curricular commitments here as well.
☐ Check your CU email account often. Read all correspondence from CU. You will receive information about advising, enrollment, scholarship opportunities and other important matters via your CU email account.
☐ If you need to change your schedule at the beginning of the semester, refer to the Academic Calendar for important add/drop deadlines and consult with your advisor immediately. The Academic Calendar also can be found online at: www.cameron.edu/info/calendars/academic.
☐ Update your campus address and cell phone number if it changed since the prior year.

September

☐ Consider leading the student organizations that you are involved with.
☐ Make sure you are talking with your professors early on in the semester. They are there to help you understand and learn what is going on in the classroom. Asking for help early pays off big in the long run.
☐ If you are pursuing a competitive program, such as a health degree or other professional degree, review the application procedures and deadlines.

October

☐ Make an advising appointment early in the semester for Spring 2021 enrollment.
☐ Record the date and time of your enrollment window opening in your weekly planning calendar so that you can finalize your enrollment as soon as your enrollment window opens to ensure you get the schedule you want.
☐ Make sure you have logged onto Optimal Resume to update your resume with things you have done and to get it ready to send out to employers and graduate schools.
☐ Check your finals schedule and make sure all your final exams are in your planner.

November

☐ Make sure you are attending the CU Succeed program to sharpen your skills!!
☐ Take out your planner and schedule time to start studying for your final exams, December will be here before you know it.
☐ Look into attending any professional associations as a student member to network with professionals in your field.

December

☐ Make sure to attend the annual holiday tree lighting! It is full of fun and merriment for everyone.
☐ Attend the finals breakfast.
☐ Access your fall grades online in AggieAccess
☐ If you need to retake a course or are ineligible to proceed to the next course because of grades, consult your advisor AS SOON AS POSSIBLE to make the appropriate adjustments.
☐ Check Degree Works to be sure you are on track for graduation.

☐ Make an advising appointment early in the semester to see if you will need to take any summer classes to finish up your degree program. Schedule your appointment online at www.cameron.edu/advisingcenter by clicking on the “Book Now” button.
☐ The CU Financial Aid Office recommends filing your paperwork as soon as possible. Late applications take longer to process and will have fewer awards available as aid is awarded on a first-come basis.
☐ Attend the Red River Career Expo to see what kind of jobs are out there and to get a feel for the process.

March

☐ Attend the Graduation Fair to pick up your cap and gown and order announcements. You can also join the Cameron University Alumni Association at the fair!!
☐ Check out the Class Campaign and how you can start giving back to the university.
☐ Work with Career Services on applying for jobs or graduate school.
☐ Check your finals schedule and make sure all your final exams are in your planner.

April

☐ Take out your planner and schedule time to start studying for your final exams, as May will be here before you know it.
☐ Make sure you have logged onto Optimal Resume to update your resume with things you have done through the year.
☐ Review all of the commencement information at www.cameron.edu/commencement.
☐ Make plans to attend Senior Sendoff!!
☐ Participate in mock interviews through Career Services.

May

☐ Attend YOUR graduation and celebrate all of you accomplishments!!
☐ Access your spring grades online in AggieAccess.
☐ If you participated in the federal student loan program at any point during your college career, be sure to complete the exit counseling.
