How long do I have to complete my degree?
You have 6 years from the date of acceptance into the Graduate Studies at Cameron University. Degree completion includes all required and elective courses for your degree and completion of your outcome assessment. Your outcome assessment will either be a Comprehensive Examination, a Portfolio, or a Thesis. Please refer to the Graduate Catalog for details on your specific degree requirements.
What is the minimum GPA that I have to have?
You must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above in order to graduate. You will not be allowed to graduate with a GPA less than 3.00. If at anytime your cumulative GPA is less than 3.00, penalties such as probation, suspension, or dismissal from the program may occur. Please refer to the Graduate Catalog for details.
Can I transfer any coursework?
Yes, you may apply to transfer up to 12 hours of Graduate coursework from a regionally accredited institution AFTER you have completed 12 hours of Graduate credit with Cameron University. These transfer hours must also be taken within the 6 year degree completion window. You cannot transfer any coursework if your GPA is less than 3.00 at that time of your request.
How do I know I am on the right track for my degree?
You will know that you are on the right track by following your Plan of Graduate Study that will be designed between you and your advisor during your first semester of attendance. Together, you and your advisor will be able to ensure that you are on a straight path towards your degree.
When are the comprehensive exams?
The comprehensive examinations are administered three times a year, in January, July, and September. You MUST apply with your advisor to take these examinations by the end of the semester before you plan to take the examination (i.e. apply before the end of Summer semester if you plan on taking the examination in the Fall). If you miss this deadline, you will not be permitted to take the examination until the next semester. What are the penalties for Academic Dishonesty?
Academic Dishonesty is not tolerated at Cameron University. When Academic Dishonesty has occurred, you will receive at least a zero for the assignment. In the case of a second occurrence, you will receive a zero on the assignment, a letter grade of "F" in the course and suspended for one FULL semester. After a third occurrence you will receive a zero on the assignment, a letter grade of "F" in the course and you will be dismissed from the graduate program at Cameron University.
