Fitness Center Operation Policies and Regulations
GENERAL
- Use of the Fitness Center is considered a privilege. Failure to comply with policies and regulations may result in revocation of the privilege.
- Each person must present a properly validated Cameron University I.D. for admission to the Fitness Center. No exceptions will be allowed.
- Each person will enter and exit the Fitness Center by the main entrance on the west side. No other door may be used.
- The Director and staff have administrative responsibility for the Fitness Center. Any person who abuses these personnel, with language or conduct, will be subject to disciplinary action.
- Only those organized activities approved by the Director will be permitted in the Fitness Center.
- Generally, academic classes will have first priority in the facility, followed by intramural or other sponsored programs, and then by free time or drop-in recreation.
- Only those signs, posters or decorations approved by the Director may be placed in the Fitness Center.
- The Fitness Center is a tobacco-free facility. No smoking or chewing tobacco is allowed.
- No food is allowed in the Fitness Center. Water is the only drink allowed in the facility.
- Proper athletic attire, including a shirt, must be worn in every area of the Fitness Center, except the natatorium and patio.
- Clean-soled gym shoes must be worn when using the playing floor, track, weight, training area, aerobic floor, and racquetball courts.
- Radios, tape players, CDs, and similar devices may be used only with individual headphones.
- Littering is prohibited.
- These operational policies are general in nature, and specific rules may developed by the Fitness Center Staff, as appropriate.
- No pets, bikes, frisbees, or skateboards are allowed in the Fitness Center.
- All personal property and belongings must be properly stored while using the Fitness Center. Please do not leave bags, backpacks, clothing, or similar items unattended. They interfere with the proper use of the facility and are easily taken by others. Cameron University assumes no responsibility for lost or stolen property.
- The safety of Fitness Center patrons is the first concern of Cameron University and the Fitness Center staff. Many of the activities of the facilities are inherently dangerous and participation in them may result in bodily injury or even death. Users acknowledge these dangers and risks and knowingly assume them in applying for use of the Fitness Center.
- No one under the age of 17 is allowed on weight equipment and/or aerobic machines. Furthermore, children under 17 are not allowed in the weight training area or the aerobics areas. They must remain on the benches for safety reasons.
