Aerobics Areas

  1. Proper attire, including shirts and gym shoes, must be worn at all times.
     
  2. Respect the privacy of others during aerobic exercise periods. Loitering in the aerobic areas is prohibited.
     
  3. Free aerobic classes are offered to faculty, staff, and students at various times throughout the semester. Check class times with the front desk.
     
  4. Cardio equipment are equipped with Cardio Theater.
     
  5. No one under 17 is allowed on the aerobics equipment or in the aerobics area for safety purposes.

Playing Floor


1. Other than scheduled, organized activities approved by the Fitness Center Director, such as academic classes or intramural competition, court play is on a first-come first serve basis.

2. When facility use dictates, cross-court games have priority over full-court games. Half-court games have priority over cross-court games.

3. Proper athletic attire, including shirts, must be worn at all times. Non-marking shoes also must be worn.

4. Hanging on rims, backboards, or nets is prohibited. Dunking is prohibited.

Pool Rules

1.  Before swimming, each person must take a shower, with soap. Also, each person must wash his or her hair, with soap, before swimming.

2.  Proper bathing attire is required at all times.

3.  All posted rules must be followed.

4.  No footwear is allowed on the pool deck except for aqua socks, or similar footwear.

5. Children of Cameron employees must be accompanied by that family member.
 
6.  During the fall and spring semesters, the pool will be open during the following hours (times may vary during intersession and summer terms):

Playing Raquetball
Racquetball Courts

1.  Courts are exclusively for racquetball, walleyball, and handball. No other use is permitted unless approved by the Fitness Center staff.


2.  Safety glasses are required for play. There are no exceptions. No black balls or black-soled shoes are allowed. All racquets must be stringed, constructed of some material other than wood, and be equipped with a safety thong and bumper guard.

Track

1.  The track is an exercise area and may not be used by spectators. Please, no stopping or standing on the track. Clean-soled gym shoes must be worn on the track.

2.  To promote even wear on the track surface, direction of use will be alternated. Always travel in the designated direction.

3.  The track is for running, jogging and walking. Faster runners should use the outside lanes, and slower joggers and walkers should use the inside lane. Wheel chairs should use the inside lane.

Aerobics Area
 
The Weight Training AreaWeight Area

1.  Proper athletic attire, including shirts and gym shoes, must be worn at all times.

2.  Towel are available for check-out at the front desk. Use them to wipe down pads and equipment after each use.

3.  Weight training can be dangerous. Always be aware of others around you and use spotters when working with free weights. Stay clear of weight stacks. Do not drop weights.

4.  Return all weights to racks when finished with them. Weights may not be removed from the weight training area.

5.  Weight training equipment must be used properly in order to achieve desired training results and preserve the equipment. Improper use of the equipment, such as bouncing the mechanisms or dropping the weight stacks, will not be tolerated.

6. Children under 17 may not use the weight training equipment.


Eligibility of Use

All patrons of the Fitness Center must have a current Cameron University ID card. Students MUST be enrolled according to the following criteria.

  • For fall and spring semesters:
    Students enrolled in a minimum of 12 undergraduate hours;
    students enrolled in a minimum of 9 graduate hours.
     
  • For summer term:
    Students enrolled in a minimum of 3 hours (undergraduate or graduate), residents of Cameron Village or Shepler Dorms who have a valid 12-month housing contract.
     
  • Students who are enrolled in less than 12 undergraduate hours or 9 graduate hours during the fall and/or spring semesters or less than 3 hours during the summer term must pay $4.00 per credit hour short of the minimum requirement,
     
  • Students who are enrolled in less than 12 undergraduate hours or 9 graduate hours AND who are in their last semester of attendance, can use the fitness center once they have presented a degree check to the Director for review,
     
  • Full-time employees of Cameron University who possess a current Cameron ID. Members of the immediate family of full-time Cameron employees who live in the household of the employee AND possess a current Cameron ID, 
     
  • Adjunct faculty of Cameron University who possess a current Cameron ID. Immediate family of adjunct faculty may use the facility for a fee of $30 per regular academic semester and $15 per summer term.
