Transfer Students and Financial Assistance
Congratulations on your decision to attend Cameron University. Our staff is dedicated to ensure that your transfer process is smooth and worry free. There are several important steps that you need to follow to make your transition easier:
-Start the financial aid process as soon as possible! Procedures are slightly different if you have received any type of financial aid at your previous institution during the current academic year. If you fall into this category, read on to find out what you need to do.
-If you are out of town and need to reach us, you can call our toll-free number 1-888-454-7600.
I have applied for Financial Assistance this year
If you have filed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid for this academic year, you can transfer this information to Cameron by completing the following steps:
- Apply for admission at Cameron University.
- Call the Central Processor to have Cameron added to your Student Aid Application. The telephone number is 1-800-433-3243. You can also update your address at this time. Cameron's institution number is 003150. This process will take 2-3 weeks.
- If you have processed a student loan, you need to contact the lender and cancel any future disbursements. You must submit a new application to our office. We cannot get a new guarantee on the new loan until the prior loan is canceled. This may take several weeks.
- You must complete an on-line counseling session for your loan.
- You need to contact your prior school so they can cancel any aid they have prepared for you.
- If you had to provide verification documents to the prior school, you will need to bring them to us as well such as tax returns, etc.
I have not applied for Financial Assistance this year
If you have not applied for financial assistance this academic year you need to complete the following steps:
- Apply for admissions. Turn in current academic transcript.
- Complete the FAFSA. Cameron's institutional code number is 003150. This will insure that Cameron will receive your information electronically. This process will take 4-6 weeks.
- If you have had prior loans, contact your lender in writing to inform them that you are transferring to Cameron. Also let them know of your new anticipated graduation date.
- You must complete an on-line counseling session for your loan.
- You need to contact your prior school so they can cancel any aid they have prepared for you.
- Check in regularly with our office to see if all paperwork is completed.
