Lawton Noon Lions Club Scholarship

Mission Statement

The Lawton Noon Lions Club supports the education of individuals through its scholarship program. The scholarships will be awarded to those individuals considered by the Scholarship Committee to be most deserving based on ability, academics, and civic activities.

The scholarships will be awarded to students attending Cameron University or Great Plains Area Technology Center and vary in value from $150 - $500 per semester.

Eligibility Requirements

Students must be enrolled full time at either Cameron University or Great Plains Technology Center. The application form must
include the following information:

• High School Transcript, GPA and year of graduation.
• Test Scores for the ACT or SAT.
• Undergraduate degree plan and career plan.
• Year degree studies began/will begin and estimated year of completion.
• Faculty letter of recommendation from the applicant’s current high school or current college instructor, submitted in a sealed envelope.
• Essay of approximately 300 words describing the applicant’s knowledge of the Lions Club and their activities.

Criteria for Scholarship Selection

The scholarships will be awarded to those individuals considered by the Scholarship Committee to be the most deserving based on ability, academics, and civic activities. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Preferences:

Historically, Lions Clubs have had a particularly strong commitment to assisting the visually impaired and promoting visual health and research. Visually impaired students and students planning careers in optometry or related fields are
encouraged to apply, but scholarships are not limited to only those categories. Lawton Noon Lions and their family members are not permitted to apply.
