Dr. Thom and Denise Balmer
Dr. Thom Balmer joined the Cameron faculty in 2012. He has a Master of Divinity degree in psychiatric chaplaincy from Southern Seminary, Louisville, Ky., a master’s degree in marriage and family counseling from Hardin-Simmons University, Abilene, Texas, and an Advanced Pastoral Studies Certificate from Austin Presbyterian Seminary, Austin, Texas. Balmer earned a Ph.D. in counseling studies from Capella University, Minneapolis. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Approved Supervisor, and a Clinical Fellow and Approved Supervisor of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. Balmer is a past-president of the Oklahoma Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and a member of the advisory board for Counselor Licensing/Oklahoma Department of Health. He has conducted continuing education training for numerous professional organizations across the state. Joining Dr. Balmer as Faculty in Residence is his wife Denise.
