Initial Course Placement

Cameron University uses ACT scores to determine placement in English, reading, mathematics, and science courses for first-time entering students who are under the age of 21.

Students with an ACT score of less than 19 in English, mathematics, or reading are required to take a developmental course in the subject area or be approved for placement in a collegiate level course based on performance on computerized placement tests (CPT).

Students will be required to remediate any mathematics or reading deficiencies prior to taking a biological or physical science course.  Students with an ACT of less than 19 in science will be required to complete three science courses to meet  baccalaureate degree requirements.

Cameron University uses CPT scores to determine placement in English, mathematics, and reading courses for adult students (active duty military or students age 21 and older).  Adult students with deficiencies in mathematics and/or reading will be required to remediate those deficiencies prior to taking biological or physical science courses.

A student with an English deficiency may not enroll in US History to/since 1865 nor American Federal Government.
