Endowed Scholarships

Cameron students benefit annually from the generosity of many benefactors who have established endowed scholarships over a number of years. These scholarships are of enormous assistance to the recipients and are of great value to the University in recruiting quality students.

In addition to these endowed scholarships, which are held by the Cameron University Foundation, Inc., Cameron receives several other scholarships from outside the University. These include the McMahon Scholars from the McMahon Foundation, the McCasland Scholars from the McCasland Foundation and the Helen Holliday Scholarships from the Helen Holliday Foundation.

Clothide Fulbright Crawford Scholarship

Established by Joseph C. and Lucille N. Crawford in November 1976 for home economic students with any excess to be used for purchasing instructional material or equipment.

Language Arts Scholarship

Established by the Language Arts Department and Jessie May Hines Language Arts Committee in September 1978 for the use and benefit of students in the field of language arts.

Floyd J. Freeman Scholarship

Established in December 1978 for the use and benefit of full-time students.

James R. and Irene J. Lawrence Memorial Endowment Trust Scholarship

Established in November 1979 for outstanding junior or senior business administration students and to recruit outstanding high school students.

Ewell B. Lacy Scholarship

Established by Mr. and Mrs. Ewell B. Lacy in December 1980 for the use and benefit of full-time students.

Beth Ann Smith Scholarship

Established in December 1982 for students engaged in the study of biology.

Vinola D. Scott Educational Trust Fund Scholarship

Established in 1983 to benefit students with Financial need.

Cleo Brittain Watson Endowed Scholarship

Established in November 1983 to be used for scholarships for Pre-Nursing students.

Helen Holliday Scholarship

Established by the Helen Holliday Trust to provide scholarships for full time students.

Thomas C. Brown Scholarship

Established in May 1984 to support students in the physical science field.

Edith Marie Barker Nursing Scholarship

Established by James M. Barker in memory of his wife in December 1984 for the use and benefit of students engaged in the study of nursing.

Leslie Powell Fine Arts Scholarships

Established in September 1986 to be awarded annually to superior fine arts students.

Kevin Everett Scholarship

Established by Nina Hunt and family members in June 1987 for freshman students nominated and submitted by local coaches.

Jack Wolfson Estate Scholarship

Established in February 1988 for students of military sciences and educational programs.

Allen L. Zisman Excellence in Chemistry Scholarship

Established in March 1988 by Frances L., Stan Alan, Julie Gail and Jan Laura Zisman in memory of their husband and father for chemistry majors who have completed their sophomore year.

Shamen Marie Wilson Scholarship

Established by John Wilson III in October 1988 to foster and encourage students in the study of home economics and human ecology.

Frank and Katherine Melka Scholarship

Established in October 1988 for students with special needs.

Southwest Medical Center Scholarship

Established in 1989 for students who are pursuing a health science related degree.

Lahoma E. Benke Spanish Scholarship

Established in September 1989 for students majoring in romance languages with a major or minor in Spanish.

Lawton Shakespeare Club English Scholarship

Established in April 1990 for deserving English education majors who plan to teach high school English.

Fred Heinz Family Scholarships

Established in February 1991 for students in the study of education who have lived in Southwest Oklahoma for the last five years.

John Elmer Lillard Endowed Scholarship

Established in March 1991 to be used for the benefit of Cameron University's Nursing Program.

Ina Mae Stapp Scholarship

Established in April 1992 to foster and encourage students in the study of nursing.

Reginal C. Brown Scholarship

Established in December 1994 by Mrs. Leora L. Brown in memory of her husband for business students with financial need.

Buck and Irene Clements Scholarship

Established in December 1994 to support full-time agriculture majors with financial need who are at the sophomore level.

Memorials Scholarship

Established in June 1996 for the use and benefit of students with special needs.

Elizabeth Adcock Music Scholarship

Established in April 1998 for the use and benefit of deserving non-music majors as selected by the music department scholarship selection committee.

Clodus and Pauline (Chaat) Smith American Indian Scholarship

Established in August 1998 to benefit deserving full-time students.

Rose Marie Bowman White Scholarship

Established in September 1998 to benefit full-time disabled undergraduate students.

Buck and Irene Clements Scholarship

Established in December 1998 for the use and benefit of full-time seniors engaged in the study of early childhood education during their student teaching semester.

Phillip S. and Aldine Cash Scholarship

Established in January 1999 for the benefit of music students selected by music faculty members.

T. A. Phillip and Adeline Hamra Scholarship Fund

Established in March 1999 to benefit students in need of financial assistance.

William K. "Bill" Burch Endowed Scholarship

Established in March 2000 by Ned and Margaret M. Burch in memory of their son for use and benefit of Cameron students.

Jane M. Morse Memorial Scholarship

Established in August 2001 by Dr. F.J. Lashley in memory of his wife to help fund the educational needs of undergraduate elementary education majors.

IBC Scholarship

Established in 2002 to benefit Business School students with a maximum income of less than $25,000.

Gerald Ruschmeyer Endowed Scholarship

Established in November 2002 to be used for scholarships for financial needy students.

Sondra Bonnington Endowed Scholarship

Established in April 2003 to provide scholarships for students seeking special education certification.

Jessie Pittman Dunbar Scholarship

Established in 2003 to be used for scholarships for financial needy students.

Jamie Lyn Abbott Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Established in January 2004 to support undergraduate students, especially those who have undergone tremendous hardships including, but not limited to drug, alcohol, and chemical dependency and recovery from such illness.

David A. Himes Endowed Memorial Scholarship

Established in October 2004 by the family of David H. Himes to benefit students majoring in Business in extreme financial need.

Goodyear Toyota Scholarship

Established in November 2004 through the combined effort of Goodyear and Toyota to provide scholarships to expand educational opportunities at Cameron University.

Emma Tomlinson Endowed Scholarship

Established in November 2004 by the estate of Mrs. Emma J. Tomlinson to be used for scholarships.

Cameron BancFirst Investment Portfolio Endowed Scholarship

Established in January 2005 by funds generated by the 2004-2005 Cameron University Investment Portfolio class.

Established in October 2005 to provide scholarships for deserving students at Cameron University.

Floss Belland Endowed Scholarship in Women's Golf

Established in December 2006 to assist former members of Cameron University's women's golf team complete their baccalaureate degree after they have completes their sports eligibility.

Lawton Ft. Sill Chapter of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA)Endowed Scholarship

Established in February 2007 to benefit deserving full-time students. The scholarship is awarded to a freshman or sophomore student enrolled in Military Science I or II who exhibits leadership, extra-curricular involvement and maintains a 3.0 minimum GPA.

Willy Flores, Jr. Endowed Scholarship in Agriculture

Established in April 2007 in memory of Flores who was killed while fighting in Iraq. The scholarship is awarded to a deserving student enrolled as an agriculture major.

Anne Morris Endowed Memorial Scholarship in Pre-Nursing

Established in May 2007 through the generosity of Morris' family, the scholarship provides financial assistance to a full-time pre-nursing student with at least a 3.0 grade point average who demonstrates campus involvement and financial need.

Nancy Edith Hale Endowed Scholarship

Established in May 2007 through funds provided by the estate of Nancy Edith Hale to create scholarships for needy students.

Doris Aycock Endowed Scholarship in Pre-Nursing

Established in June 2007 by Dr. Byron Aycock in memory of his wife, Doris. The scholarship is awarded to both part-time and full-time Cameron University students enrolled as pre-nursing majors.

Bernice Pittman Moss Endowed Scholarship in Teacher Education

Established in July 2007 to benefit an education major who is a junior or higher in classification.

Craig Foundation Endowed Scholarship

Established in September 2007 by The Craig Foundation to benefit an agriculture major who is enrolled full-time and is a sophomore or higher in classification.

Charles Shelly Graybill, M.D, Endowed Scholarship in Pre-Medicine Studies

Established in September 2007 by Dr. Charles and Betty Graybill to benefit deserving full-time students who are pursuing a course of study leading to acceptance into medical school. The scholarship is awarded to students who are sophomores or higher who has at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average. 

Herbert S. Orr, M.D. Endowed Scholarship

Established in December 2007 in appreciation of the leadership of Dr. Orr. The scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time student who is a sophomore or higher in classification and has at least a 3.0 grade point average. 

Richard J. Allgood, M.D. Endowed Scholarship in Pre-Medicine Studies

Established in April 2008 in recognition of Dr. Richard Allgood's 35 years of service to the Lawton community.  Colleagues and friends raised funds to create this endowed scholarship in honor of the surgeon, who retired in December 2007. The scholarship is awarded to full-time Cameron University students pursuing a course of studies leading to acceptance at an accredited medical school. 

Todd and Cindy Sanner Endowed Scholarship in Science and Technology

Established in June 2008 by CU alumni Todd and Cindy Sanner, this scholarship assists deserving students who are pursuing a course of studies in science and technology. Recipients must be a second semester freshman or higher in classification earning a grade point average of 3.5 or better.

LaDonna Spradlin Endowed Scholarship in Health and Physical Education

Established in September 2009 to assist deserving full-time female students enrolled at Cameron University.

Fannie Elise Smith Charitable Endowed Scholarship

Established in August 2009 in order to assist any deserving full-time student enrolled at Cameron University.

Dennis Lang Memorial Endowed Scholarship in Journalism

Established in October 2009 in memory of Dennis Lang to assist any deserving full-time students enrolled at Cameron University and pursing a course of studies in newspaper journalism.

Bhargava Family Endowed Scholarship in Business

Established in October 2009 to be given to any deserving full-time student pursuing a course of studies in business.

Bhattacharya Family Endowed Scholarship in Business

Established in 2009 to bring assistance to any deserving full-time students enrolled at Cameron University and pursuing a course of studies in Business or a related discipline.

Bill Shahan Family Scholarship

Established in March 2010 for the purpose of assisting any deserving full-time students enrolled at Cameron University.

Tom Sutherlin Endowed Scholarship

Established in June 2010 as a President’s Distinguished Scholarship for Cameron University students.

Herbert C. King Memorial Scholarship

Established in 2010 in memory of long time Lawton educator H.C. "Prof" King and in honor of his years of service and dedication to Douglass High School and the Lawton Community.

Jack L. and Joyce Cline Endowed Scholarship in Agriculture

Established in October 2010 through the Jack L. Cline Trust to assist full-time students enrolled at Cameron University and pursuing a course of study for a baccalaureate degree in agriculture.

Billy Slabaugh Memorial Endowed Scholarship in Chemistry

Established by colleagues and friends in memory of Halliburton employee and Cameron graduate Billy Slabaugh in November 2010. The scholarship assists deserving full-time students enrolled at Cameron University and pursuing a course of studies in Chemistry.
