Cameron University: Changing Lives for 100 Years
During the 2008-2009 academic year, Cameron will celebrate its 100th birthday. As part of the celebration in January 2006 the university launched a Centennial Campaign entitled, Cameron University: Changing Lives for 100 Years, 1908-2008. In March 2008, President Cindy Ross announced that the university has surpassed its $10 million goal.
The campaign was first announced on January 11, 2006 with a goal to raise $8.5 million over the following three years. This was the largest three-year campaign ever launched by a regional university. Then on July 18, 2007, just two years into the three-year campaign, Ross announced that the $8.5 million goal had been surpassed and launched the Dig Deeper Challenge, extending the goal to $10 million.
The Centennial Campaign focuses on five significant areas – student scholarships, endowed faculty positions, university advancement, and the construction of two new features, the Bentley Gardens and the McMahon Centennial Complex. Each area has far exceeded the campaign’s expectations.
