Tired of boring summers?  Join us at Cameron University for a summer of science fun!  The "Kids Investigating the Discovery of Science (K.I.D.S) Camp" is the week of June 16 through June 20, 2008.  The themes for the K.I.D.S. Camp this year are as follows:

"From Ideas to Inventions"
Grades K - 2
9:00 a.m. to Noon

"From Ideas to Inventions"
Grades 3 - 5
12:30 p.m.  to 3:30 p.m.

"Space Camp"
Grades 6 - 8
12:30 p.m.  to 3:30 p.m.

Creative Expressions

Creative Expressions summer art camp helps students (ages 6-13) explore their creative expression through visual art.

Creative Expressions will be divided into four two-week sessions and will be presented from 8:30 a.m. to Noon four days a week. Each session is unique, featuring a variety of creative opportunities including digital art, drawing, painting, printmaking, mixed-media, sculpture and crafts. Participants are grouped according to age and rotate daily through 45-minute classes. The dates for the “Creative Expressions” are:

Session I: June 2-5 and June 9-12
Session II: June 16-19 and June 23-26
Session III: June 30-July 3 and July 7-10
Session IV: July 14-17 and July 21-24 
                
The registration fee for Creative Expressions is $125 per session. A 20 percent discount will be given for additional children from the same family.  All art materials are included. Children may participate in multiple sessions.

Creative Expressions is sponsored by CU, VSA arts of Oklahoma, VSA arts of Washington, DC, the U.S. Department of Education, Hobby Lobby and The Omega Workshop.

Omega Workshop Summer Arts Institute

The Omega Workshop Summer Arts Institute, co-sponsored by CU and the Omega Workshop, is geared towards students aged 14-18 and provides the opportunity to work under the direction of professional artists. Additional sponsors include VSA arts of Oklahoma and Hobby Lobby. 

The program is organized in two sessions. Session I focuses on the fundamentals of drawing and portfolio development, designed to increase each student’s perceptual observation skills through various drawing techniques with traditional media. Drawing materials, including a sketchbook, drawing paper, ebony, graphite and charcoal pencils will be provided. Session I will be held on three consecutive Fridays, June 6, June 13 and June 20, from 9 a.m.–Noon. 
 

Session II features digital art and computer generated imagery, introducing students to several graphic software programs including Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Students will use the Wachom drawing tablets for production of computer-generated imagery. The session will emphasize computer graphics and image enhancement, aesthetics and technology. Session II will be held on three consecutive Fridays, June 27, July 11 and July 18 from 9 a.m.–Noon. 
 

The registration fee for each Omega Workshop Summer Arts Institute session is $30.

Adobe Flash Animation Workshop

The Department of Multimedia Design is sponsoring the “Adobe Flash Animation Workshop” this summer for children ages 13 – 18.  There will be two sessions each running from Monday to Thursdays, from 1:00–to 4:30.  Session 1 is June 2-5 and Session 2 is June 9-12.  The cost is $50 per session. 

The participants will use a number of graphic, audio and animation tools to create a walking, talking cartoon character that they will put on a CD to take home.  All materials are provided and refreshments will be served. 
This program is intended to complement the Art Department's morning "Summer Arts Institute."

Summer Robotics Program

Make Robotics Your Business!

If you are between the ages of 12-15, come and explore your creativity.  Join us for a one week interactive program that incorporates robotics and elements of entrepreneurship.  The program will facilitate the creation and programming of a real robot while explaining ways to incorporate ideas or inventions into a business opportunity.

To ensure a spot for the Summer Robotics Program, the registration form along with $50 fee MUST be received by 5 PM on May 26, 2008.
