Cameron launches “Freedom to Learn” initiative for military students

Cameron University President Cindy Ross was today joined by State Regent Bill Burgess, Major General Peter M. Vangjel, Commanding General, United States Fires Center of Excellence and Fort Sill, and other distinguished guests to announce "Freedom to Learn," a new initiative developed by Cameron University to assist active duty military in their pursuit of a college degree. Under the "Freedom to Learn" program, Cameron University will provide laptop computers to active duty military students enrolled at CU in six or more hours online for fall and spring semesters. The program is open to members of all branches of the service. Military students who complete a Cameron degree are eligible to keep the laptop.

CU Department of Music earns 10-year accreditation from National Association of Schools of Music

Cameron University's Department of Music has received continuing accreditation through the academic year 2017-2018 from the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). NASM accreditation is granted upon the successful submission and approval of a music department self-study, on-site evaluation, and consequent responses to articulated concerns.

Cameron announces Spring 2009 honor lists

Cameron University has announced the President's and Dean's honor lists for the Spring 2009 semester. To make the President's List, undergraduate students must be enrolled full-time (carrying at least 12 hours of classes) and maintain a straight A average (4.0). The Dean's List requires a B average (3.00-3.99).

Cameron University launches “CU $upports You” to assist students and their families

Cameron University is launching "CU $upports You," an ambitious financial assistance program to help students and their families afford a college education, CU President Cindy Ross announced today. The Board of Regents for The University of Oklahoma, Cameron University and Rogers State University approved the program as an initiative of the FY2010 budget during its regularly scheduled meeting in Ardmore yesterday. "CU $upports You" is a comprehensive package offering financial programs and other innovative options to help cover the costs of college-related expenses.

Regents approve $46 million budget for CU

Cameron University's governing board approved an annual budget of just over $46 million for FY2010 during its regularly scheduled meeting today in Ardmore. The Board of Regents for The University of Oklahoma, Cameron University and Rogers State University approved an operating budget of $46,166,432 for CU, which has just completed its Centennial Celebration. Tuition and fee rates for the 2009-2010 academic year will remain at 2008-2009 levels.

LRMA establishes new lectureship at Cameron University

The Lawton Retail Merchants Association (LRMA) has established the Dr. Gilbert "Gib" Gibson Lectureship in Community Banking to advance the quality of education in the study of community banking at Cameron University. The lectureship will bring distinguished national and regional lecturers in banking to campus for the benefit of students and area banking professionals. The endowment was approved at this week's meeting of The University of Oklahoma, Cameron University and Rogers State University Board of Regents. The Regents also approved Cameron's request to apply for matching funds for the lectureship from the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.

Summer enrollment up at Cameron University

Cameron University officials announced today that preliminary reports indicate enrollment for the Summer 2009 semester is up 8.75 percent compared to a year ago. This year 2,560 students are enrolled at Cameron, compared to 2,354 at the start of the Summer 2008 term.

Cameron University honors alumnus Dr. Charles S. Graybill

University will honor alumnus Dr. Charles S. Graybill by naming the courtyard adjacent to the CETES Conference Center the "Charles S. Graybill, M.D. Courtyard," CU President Cindy Ross announced today. The naming, approved by The University of Oklahoma, Cameron University and Rogers State University Board of Regents, comes in recognition of Dr. Graybill's leadership and contributions on behalf of the university.
