Important interview tips to remember:
- Arrive early for your interview.
- Know the name and title of the person with whom you are interviewing. If it is a name with which you are unfamiliar, learn the correct pronunciation in advance.
- Dress appropriately. First impressions are important.
- Research the employer prior to the interview and be prepared to ask questions.
- Be confident of yourself. Know yourself. Prior to the interview, ask questions of yourself that you think the interviewer might ask.
- If you don't know the answer to a questions, say so.
- Be courteous at all times.
- Maintain eye contact with the interviewer.
- Never chew gum or use tobacco products during the interview.
- Be honest! Provide accurate information and be truthful with your answers.
- Usually interviewers will tell you when you can expect to hear from them and what actions, if any, should be taken to be further considered for employment.
- Be optimistic, positive, and confident, during the interview.
- Let the interviewer introduce the subject of salary and benefits. Often these topics are not discussed until a second interview.
- Present a firm handshake when you arrive and as you leave.
- Be a good listener.
- After the interview, write the interviewer a thank you letter.
