FFA Interscholastic Career Development Event


AGRONOMY CAREER DEVELOPMENT EVENT
APRIL 9, 2008

All contestants and sponsors should assemble promptly at 8:00 A.M.
at the CU FOOTBALL STADIUM
, entrance located on
38th Street
where additional instructions will be given.

The Crops contest consists of three (3) parts: Plant and Seed Identification, Practicum, and General Agronomics Knowledge. Each part will require forty minutes each.

Plant and Seed Identification

    This part of the contest will have seventy-five (75) plant and seed specimens to identify. The contestants will be graded on correct identification.

Practicum
    Topics will be: (1) Grain Grading, (2) Nutrient Management, and (3) Seed Analysis.

General Agronomics Knowledge
       Questions for the general agronomic knowledge examination will come from the OSU Alfalfa Production Guide. Hardcopies of the OSU Alfalfa Production Guide E-826 may be ordered from your county extension educator or by downloading from the internet at: http://alfalfa.okstate.edu/pub/e826index.htm

 Questions for the nutrient management examination will come from the Oklahoma Soil Fertility Handbook. One team of three or four (3-4) members and up to four (4) additional individuals may participate with the three (3) highest scores of the designated team used for the team score.
