Mission Statement
The Academic Research Support Center provides resources and opportunities for faculty, staff, and students in conducting basic and applied research in support of their academic pursuits and to enhance the reputation of Cameron University. Particularly, the center strives to support all pre-award aspects of the proposal development process and to serve as a liaison between external funding agencies as well as internal departments including Payroll, the Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Office of the President.
Services Provided by the Academic Research Center
- Identify grant opportunities to support grant activities at Cameron.
- In cooperation with the relevant administrative units on campus and funding source assist faculty and staff in the development and submission of internal and external grant applications.
- Track Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Human Subjects Training submissions through the University of Oklahoma.
- Assist undergraduate students in pursuing a variety of practical research experiences as they relate to the Council on Undergraduate Research, the Oklahoma Research Day, and Experimetrix).
- Provide administrative oversight for the appointment of graduate research assistants to support faculty.
- Provide active support for strengthening civic responsibility through service learning.

Call for Proposals: Undergraduate Biomedical Reseach
Cameron University is pleased to announce a call for proposals to support the purchase of supplies for undergraduate research projects in biomedical related areas. Recent projects focused on reproductive studies in swine, x-ray crystallography studies of proteins, studies of soil nematode, and a number of gene-related research studies. Grant Writing Workshop
During the Spring Semester 2010, the Academic Research Director will offer an eight-week grant writing workshop (one hour/week starting in February). The main goal of the workshop is to provide any faculty and staff the opportunity to learn about all the aspects of grant writing and ultimately complete a solid grant proposal for submission to an external grant agency. Those who signed up for the workshop will receive more detailed information soon.
Call for Internal Proposals
Faculty interested in submitting a Cameron Research Grant, a Cameron Innovative Instructional Grant, or a Cameron Faculty Development Grant are encouraged do so by October 1, 2009 for the Fall Semester. Depending on funding availability, grants submitted may still be considered. For more detailed information regarding the application guidelines go to CU Internal Grants.
